Cats have a funny way of acting like they run the entire house. They don’t pay the bills, they don’t lift a paw to help out, and yet they somehow believe everything belongs to them. The humans living there? Clearly just staff.
That certainly seems to be the case for one fluffy white cat who recently went viral for claiming the most unexpected seat in the house — her owner’s chairlift.
In a short video that has people laughing online, a woman catches her 95-year-old mother carefully walking down the stairs while the family cat comfortably rides the chairlift down like royalty.
The daughter can hardly believe what she’s seeing.
“What is going on here?” she asks in disbelief as the cat calmly descends the stairs.
Her mom bursts out laughing and explains the problem.
“She won’t get off the chair,” the elderly woman says.
The daughter quickly points out the obvious.
“Mom, that’s your chair.”
But grandma admits she’s hesitant to remove the fluffy passenger herself.
As cute as the cat is, she says she’s worried about getting scratched if she tries to move her.
Meanwhile, the cat sits there looking completely unbothered by the entire situation — almost as if she’s wondering why everyone is making such a big deal out of it.

Her expression seems to say, “This is my seat. What’s the problem?”
Despite the unexpected delay, grandma eventually makes it safely down the stairs, and the moment ends with both women laughing about the cat’s bold behavior.
At the bottom of the stairs, the grandmother even gives the cat some loving pets and scratches, telling her how much she loves her.
As anyone who owns a cat already knows, once a feline decides something belongs to them, there’s really no arguing about it.
Cats are naturally territorial animals and often claim favorite spots around the house as their own. They may rub their faces or bodies on furniture to leave behind scent markers that signal the space is safe and familiar.
So it’s entirely possible this particular chairlift had already been claimed long before the humans realized it.
One thing is certain, though: in this house, that chairlift clearly belongs to the cat now.
