Baby animals are adorable, but anyone who has cared for a litter knows they bring plenty of chaos along with the cuteness. Little ones may sleep a lot, but when they’re awake, they’re busy exploring everything around them — and often getting into trouble along the way.

For the foster cat mom behind the TikTok account @pawspedalsprogress, life has been extra lively lately. Her foster cat recently gave birth to five tiny kittens, and while caring for them is a handful, she clearly wouldn’t have it any other way.

In fact, she recently celebrated a big milestone with her followers: the moment the kittens figured out how to climb their way to “freedom,” also known as the living room.

The adorable video shows the tiny explorers attempting to escape their nursery area. One determined black-and-white tuxedo kitten tries again and again to reach the top, showing impressive persistence for such a small baby.

But in the end, it’s their feisty tortoiseshell sister who cracks the code.

Using a nearby crate like a ladder, the clever kitten confidently climbs her way over the barrier and proudly stomps toward the gate like she owns the place.

Viewers quickly cheered her on.

“When the tortie stomped toward the gate, I knew she had it,” one commenter wrote. “What a good mover!”

Anyone familiar with tortoiseshell cats knows they have a reputation for big personalities — often called “tortitude” — and this little escape artist definitely lived up to the name.

Still, the tiny tuxedo kitten who tried so hard also captured hearts online. Her silent little meow and determined efforts had viewers rooting for her every step of the way.

Once one kitten successfully climbed the makeshift wall, their foster mom decided it was time to remove the barrier altogether. At their age, the kittens are ready to explore a bigger space safely — even if that means a lot more running, climbing, and general kitten mischief.

Their foster mom joked that she probably won’t get a moment of peace now until the whole adorable crew eventually finds their forever homes.
