A sweet new puppy is trying her absolute best to win over the family cat, and the internet cannot get enough of the awkwardly adorable first meeting.
Emilie recently shared the moment on TikTok after bringing home Roma, a 9-week-old cocker spaniel puppy who is already full of energy, curiosity, and one very important goal: becoming friends with Stella, the family’s almost 16-year-old cat.
So far, Stella is not exactly making it easy.
In the viral clip, Roma cautiously inches toward the senior cat, wriggling with excitement, whining softly, and wagging her tail the entire time. Stella, meanwhile, stands perfectly still, staring the puppy down like a queen who is not impressed in the slightest.
Roma gets brave enough to move in for a quick nose sniff—but almost immediately seems to sense Stella’s icy vibe and backs away to the safety of her owner before trying again.

It’s the kind of pet interaction that says everything without a single sound.
According to Emilie, Stella was raised with a dog and the two were incredibly close. In fact, she said they were best friends. But after the family’s dog died nearly seven years ago, they just weren’t ready to bring another one home.
That finally changed when their daughter asked for a dog for her seventh birthday, and the family decided the time was right.
Now Roma has entered the picture—and with her, a whole new level of chaos.
Even so, Emilie is confident the frosty first meeting won’t last forever. She says Stella has met plenty of dogs over the years and has never hurt one, though she joked that she may have hurt a few feelings.
The family also has a younger cat named Happy, who seems just as unimpressed by the puppy so far. But Emilie believes both cats simply need time to adjust.
And honestly, the internet seems to agree.
