Introducing a dog to a cat is never usually quick or easy, but once they do manage to bond with each other, their friendship is forever.

A dog owner from Illinois has melted hearts on social media after sharing with the internet the story of how her cat, Miss Baby Kitty, reacted to meeting her new canine sister, and how their introduction is going so far.

In a video shared on TikTok on Monday, under the username @thebrebers, the black-and-white kitten can be seen observing her new rescue sister from afar, analyzing her every move as their owner pets her.

“We’ll get there,” he can be heard saying, as the post goes on to show more clips in which the two animals slowly start getting accustomed to one another.

The poster, Cheyenne, and her fiancé, Cody Breber, explained that they adopted Miss Baby Kitty about five-and-a-half years ago from Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC), and she is a very spoiled baby, being the only animal in the house until now.

Cheyenne and Cody said: “We adopted Stella from Hinsdale Humane Society this past weekend. It was truly a spur-of-the-moment decision as you can tell from our other TikTok video.”

The couple added that their introduction is going amazingly well, and both pets are finally starting to warm up to each other.

“We understood the cat would take quite a bit of time given that she was not used to dogs. However, it hasn’t even been a week in and she is already slowly starting to come out of hiding to see the dog.

“We have had some minor hiccups of the cat getting scared as the dog runs past her, but we expected that. Last night was the first time they were both in the same room as each other without any issues! We are letting the animals both go at their own pace, while also maintaining control of the situation.”

Dogs and cats have always been portrayed as mortal enemies, but even though they do fight sometimes, they can live together and become best of friends.
