Is there anything more endearing than the doubtful look of a trusting dog when you’re trying to play a joke on them? That look that manages to say, without words, “Really? We’re doing this? You’re doing this to me? Come on, now.”

You can definitely see it on the faces of this pair of poor Golden Retrievers, who obviously share a lot of love and loyalty with their mom, but are none too sure about their newest toy, a popular cat toy that takes the shape of a wounded, twitching rodent.

Something about this creature just isn’t right.

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW:

The toy in this video is a robotic squirrel that lies on the ground and twitches. Though this would definitely attract the interest of my cats, they would quickly grow bored as it doesn’t seem to do anything else, and I don’t think it actually smells like a dying squirrel.

The Golden Retrievers in this video also seem skeptical about its nature. They stand there, guarding it, nosing it, and shying away from it. Their reticence to engage with the item probably speaks to the fact that they are Golden Retrievers, and what their breed was originally bred to do.
