We have a soft spot in our heart for mama cats. After all we adopted our own beloved cat soon after she gave birth in a friend’s spare room, and watching just how sweet she was with her new babies made us fall in love with her. (What can we say? we’ve been told all my life they were aloof and unfriendly creatures. We couldn’t have been more wrong.)
Our darling kitty is a calico-tabby mix, so when we see this calico cat leading her human into another room to look in on her litter, we were reminded of how much our cat liked to have company as she cared for the little ones. There’s a saying among humans that it takes a village.
Maybe for cats, it takes a colony.

In this video, we see a little calico cat leading her human don the hall to see a large pile of kittens in a comfy enclosure. We counted at least six kittens in this perfectly circular pile but there might be as many as eight.
No wonder this poor mama cat needs a break. LOL!
