Meet Buster, an affectionate umbrella cockatoo who’s turned his owner Ken into a full-on bird lover. Every day, without fail, Buster waits patiently for Ken to come home from work—just so he can jump into his lap and “talk” about his day.

As soon as Ken settles into his recliner, Buster climbs up, snuggles close, and starts chattering away. While most of it is left up to interpretation, Ken insists his feathery companion is absolutely trying to share everything he’s been up to. Ear nibbles and head tilts included.

“I was really against getting another pet at first,” Ken admitted. “But Buster changed all that. He’s definitely family now.”

Even Ken’s wife, Jennifer, has been moved by the bond.

“He’s not usually the emotional type, so it’s really sweet for me—and the kids—to watch how Buster brings that side out in him,” she said.

When Ken’s not around, Buster doesn’t sulk—he simply turns his attention to the family dog and keeps the conversation going. Because for Buster, there’s always a story to tell—and always someone who needs to hear it.
