A Canadian woman’s heartbreaking roadside rescue has turned into a viral feel-good story — and a forever friendship.
Fiona Begg, 28, from Collingwood, Ontario, never expected her August 9 TikTok post to reach over 15 million people. But after she spotted a beautiful gray cat get hit by a car, she couldn’t just drive away.
In the emotional video, Fiona is seen cradling the injured feline, softly reassuring him while rushing to the vet. “I just didn’t want the cat to be suffering on the side of the road like that,” she told viewers.

At first, the prognosis was grim. Vets gave the cat pain medication but warned Fiona he might have to be put down. Then, four days later, she got an unexpected voicemail — the mystery cat was doing “very well” and had no owner to be found. If she wanted him, he was hers.
Fiona didn’t hesitate. She picked him up, named him Lucky Chance, and brought him home. The now-viral clip shows the gray fluffball exploring his new surroundings, dozing on Fiona’s bed, and meeting her dog, Link, through a glass door.
“LC has been playful, affectionate, and surprisingly trusting despite everything,” Fiona shared, adding that Link is “curious and excited to have a new friend.”
TikTok users flooded the comments with love. “Thank you so much for being a kind person,” one wrote. Another joked, “Cat distribution system getting a bit extreme with delivery.”
The ASPCA estimates that 2.2 million cats were adopted in the U.S. last year — and Lucky Chance’s story proves why people believe in second chances. As Fiona put it: “He’s living proof of them.”
