Two tiny puppies who arrived at a Georgia foster home trembling with fear have captured hearts online after a TikTok showing their dramatic transformation in just one week went viral.
Animal rescuer and foster volunteer Laurel Lingenfelter of Savannah shared the emotional video to her TikTok account @mythologicaldogs on July 2. The clip, which has already been viewed more than 31,000 times, follows the journey of two young pups named Tom and Jerry as they slowly learned what love and safety feel like.

The montage begins with the pups visibly shaking as they step into their new foster home. On-screen text explains their first days: “They’d hide from us, shake when we held them and had no idea what safety felt like, but we were patient… Little by little they stopped shaking and started asking to be held.” The video ends with the dogs cuddling and wagging their tails, a world away from where they started.
Lingenfelter told Newsweek that Tom and Jerry had suffered severe neglect before being rescued by SGT Canines, her nonprofit. “They were completely hairless, and only 4 lbs each,” she explained. “They had never known any type of love or connection from humans and had been living in a garage after being rescued from outside.”
The puppies were battling mange, malnourishment, and intestinal worms when they first arrived. With medicated baths, proper food, and round-the-clock care, they quickly turned a corner. “In one week they doubled their weight,” Lingenfelter said. “We brought them home and patiently taught them about love. We gave them treats, sat with them, and slowly they learned to trust us.”
Before long, their fur began growing back and their personalities blossomed. “They’d look for us and took an interest in cuddling and playing,” she recalled.
Both Tom and Jerry have since been adopted into loving homes. Jerry now lives with a boat captain in South Florida and spends his days out on the water, while Tom has a new life in Miami filled with beach trips and adventures.
For Lingenfelter, the viral video is just one of many stories she shares about rescue animals. While some cases are heartbreaking, the story of Tom and Jerry is a reminder of how quickly neglected animals can thrive with patience, care, and love.
