A kitten and a puppy who came into their new home just a week apart are showing the internet that friendship can truly come in all shapes and sizes.
Lauren Lagasse, 20, always loved cats but decided it was finally time to get her very first puppy. She picked out a mini long-haired dachshund named Callie Ren, who was ready to leave her mom on September 30. But fate had other plans—just a week earlier, Lauren met a tiny kitten at a kitten yoga event in Lakeland, Florida, and couldn’t resist. She adopted the kitten, later named Cassie Gray, from the Central Florida SPCA.
Bringing home two babies at once gave her some pause, but her worries quickly disappeared. “They’re the perfect mix of cuteness and chaos,” Lauren told Newsweek. “They’ll go from play fighting to cuddling in seconds. Cassie even tries to sneak bites of Callie’s food, and Callie doesn’t mind sharing even though they know it’s not allowed.” Both sleep together in bed with Lauren, often curled up in her arms or wrapped around each other.

The two have become inseparable—sharing a feeding schedule, nap times, and endless play sessions. Lauren describes them as “literally attached at the hip.” Their bond is on full display in videos Lauren shares on TikTok (@lauren.lagasse), where Cassie and Callie cuddle, nap on top of each other, and always keep a paw or tail in contact. The clips have captured hearts online, racking up over 944,900 views and 221,100 likes, along with hundreds of comments.

Fans can’t get enough of the unlikely pair. “Chaos but major cuteness,” one viewer wrote. Another gushed, “oh my god the cuddle puddle I CANNOT.” Someone else joked, “do you think the cat’s gonna be confused when they’re not the same size anymore?”
For Lauren, the response has been overwhelming. “Every time I see them together, my heart feels so full,” she said. “Having a sister myself, I know what a special bond it is to grow up with somebody. I can’t wait to see how theirs grows. All my friends thought I was crazy for adopting both so close together, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Now Cassie and Callie spend almost every waking—and sleeping—moment side by side, proving that the sweetest friendships sometimes come in the most unexpected packages.
