A rescue pit bull has stolen hearts online after falling head over paws for his owner’s new foster dog — and now, fans are begging for them to stay together.
In September, dog mom Ashlie Asquini, 31, from Mount Prospect, Illinois, welcomed a new foster pup named Piggy, a pit bull mix who needed a temporary home while she recovered from an upper respiratory infection. For the first few weeks, Piggy had to stay separate from Asquini’s other dogs — but once she was healthy enough to mingle, everything changed.
As soon as Piggy met Mickelson, Asquini’s 4-year-old pit bull terrier, it was love at first sniff. “They became immediate friends,” Asquini told Newsweek. “They played until they both passed out.”
Since then, the two have been inseparable. They play, nap, and even eat side by side, following each other around the house every chance they get.
On October 12, Asquini shared a heart-melting TikTok (@ashuhlie) showing Mickelson “falling in love with his foster sister.” The video captures the sweet moment Mickelson rests his head gently on Piggy’s body — and viewers can’t get enough. The clip has already racked up over 375,000 views and more than 72,000 likes.

“Mickelson grew up in the shelter and has struggled to socialize with other dogs,” Asquini explained. “He’s usually so energetic that he scares other dogs off. But with Piggy, it felt like he finally found someone who truly understands him.”
Now, Asquini is considering making Piggy’s stay permanent. “I’m in talks about keeping her,” she said. “She’s so good for Mickelson.” The bond also benefits her senior pit bull, Spike, who can now relax in peace while the younger dogs entertain each other.
Asquini has been fostering pit bulls for four years and has owned them for more than a decade. She uses social media to change perceptions about the breed. “It’s always been my dream to show the real side of pit bulls,” she said. “They’re the gentlest, most loyal, and loving dogs.”
TikTok users have flooded the comments section with one clear message: Piggy can’t leave. “Please keep her! He’ll be heartbroken,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Now you have to keep her — that’s just how love works.”
One fan even joked, “Technically, it’s HIS first foster fail.”
From the looks of it, this love story might just have a happy ending.
