Many pet parents consider their furry friends part of the family, so it’s no surprise when they get included in holiday cards and milestone moments. Chris and Sarah, the proud humans behind Corgis Hammy and Olivia, shared a throwback video (filmed before Olivia passed in November 2023) that shows exactly what happened when they tried to feature the pups in their Christmas photos. Spoiler: the dogs had zero interest in modeling that day.

Just like taking pictures with toddlers, you never really know what you’re going to get. Unfortunately for Chris and Sarah, they picked the wrong day to ask for smiles. Hammy and Olivia made it very clear that “cheese” was not on the menu.

The video, posted by @hammyandolivia, says it all. The expressions on the dogs’ faces range from unimpressed to downright offended. It’s easy to imagine the couple either postponing the photoshoot—or attempting to take the holiday pictures without their Corgis, which everyone knows would never actually happen.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of the dogs’ dramatic reactions and flooded the comments with relatable jokes. One person wrote, “Well, aren’t they just precious?! LOL!” Another shared a screenshot of Hammy flashing his teeth and teased, “You should smile more often.”

Several commenters pointed out how Olivia seemed to lose patience from the very beginning. Someone else noticed that the photos got “progressively worse,” which only made the video funnier.

Others insisted that Chris and Sarah actually captured the most honest Christmas photos possible. “These are the most hilarious and authentic holiday pictures I’ve ever seen,” one commenter said. “I’d be thrilled to get a card with any of them!”

Many compared the Corgis’ behavior to sibling dynamics. One viewer joked, “Me when my sister eats my food.” Another added, “I, too, get angry when my brother sits next to me LOL!” Plenty of people agreed the dogs probably had an argument right before the camera came out.

And honestly? That might be the most accurate explanation. After all, pets—or people—never look more relatable than when they’re caught in the middle of a mood during family picture day.
