Heading out the door for work is never fun, but it’s even harder when your pet is doing everything possible to stop you. The dramatic stares. The strategic door-blocking. The full-body flop right in your path. If pets could clock in with us, half of us would probably never be late again.

One cat dad named Brandon knows this struggle all too well. His orange cat, Sebastian, has turned weekday mornings into an emotional showdown — and on February 11, he truly brought the drama.

According to Brandon, Sebastian cranked his sass level all the way up and pulled out every trick he had to keep Dad from leaving. We’re talking full determination mode. The kind of stubborn persistence only an orange cat can deliver. It’s equal parts heartbreaking and hilarious watching him try to physically and emotionally block the exit.

Sebastian plants himself by the door like a furry security guard who absolutely did not approve this commute.

Viewers quickly decided this wasn’t just clinginess — it was fate.

If you’ve heard of the “burnt toast theory” — the idea that small inconveniences are actually protecting you from something worse — you’ll understand the comments section immediately.

“Bro just saved you from two car accidents and a tree falling on you,” one viewer joked. Dozens of others agreed. Who’s to say Sebastian wasn’t sensing something cosmic?

Another commenter summed up what every pet parent was thinking: “I would send that to my boss and stay home.” Honestly, try arguing with a cat who clearly believes your job is optional.

While Sebastian didn’t succeed in earning his dad a day off, he definitely made himself the highlight of Brandon’s workday. There’s something comforting about knowing someone — even a dramatic orange cat — is counting the minutes until you’re back home.

After the laughs settled, though, some fellow cat owners pointed out a more serious possibility. Intense clingy behavior like this can sometimes signal separation anxiety. A few suggested that bringing home a companion cat might help Sebastian feel less alone during the day.

Whether it’s destiny intervention or just classic orange cat energy, one thing’s for sure: Sebastian takes his role as Dad’s personal bodyguard very seriously.
