A safari in Uganda is already a dream adventure for many travelers, but one lucky group witnessed a moment so rare that most people will only ever see it in a nature documentary.
Kisembo Simba, the owner of a safari tour company, was leading visitors through Uganda’s forests in search of endangered mountain gorillas when the group came across a mother preparing to give birth.
Simply seeing the majestic animals in their natural habitat would have been unforgettable. What happened next turned the excursion into a true once-in-a-lifetime experience.
As the tourists watched from a respectful distance, the wild gorilla gave birth right in front of them.
Other gorillas gathered around the new mother, appearing to stay close and support her as she welcomed the tiny infant into the family.
Kisembo later shared the extraordinary footage online, where viewers were stunned by the tourists’ incredible luck.
“One of the most beautiful moments in the wild is when a mountain gorilla mother welcomes a new baby into her family,” he wrote.

Kisembo explained that a mountain gorilla’s pregnancy lasts about 8.5 months and that newborns weigh roughly 2 kilograms, or about 4.4 pounds.
“From the very first moment, the mother holds her baby close, protecting and caring for it with incredible tenderness,” he added.
“Seeing a newborn gorilla in the forest is a powerful reminder of how precious and delicate life is in the wild.”
The heartwarming scene drew more than 1,200 comments from people amazed by the mother’s calm behavior and the support she received from the other gorillas.
“Midwives are found in almost every mammalian species,” one viewer wrote. “It’s one of the oldest jobs on the planet.”
“Her girls showed up for her!” another person said.
A third commenter joked that the mother gorilla “has a better support system than most humans do.”
