Giving animals as surprise gifts is usually not the best idea, especially when children are involved. But every once in a while, the timing, the family and the moment all come together perfectly.
That appeared to be the case for TikTok user @bubblegumshrimps, who surprised her father with a puppy for Father’s Day 2026 after he lost his beloved dog to cancer.
The emotional moment was captured on video, and her dad’s stunned silence said more than words ever could.
The tiny puppy is half Black Labrador Retriever and half Golden Retriever, though she is still so young that her breed mix may not be obvious yet.
What was immediately clear, however, was the instant connection between the puppy and her new owner.
Within seconds, the little dog had her new dad completely wrapped around her paw. His expression shifted from shock to pure love as he held her for the first time.

Later in the video, the two were shown relaxing together in the grass, already looking completely comfortable with each other.
The touching Father’s Day surprise quickly went viral, with viewers moved by the quiet emotion on the man’s face.
