Mexico City has been bursting with excitement since the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicked off late last month, but one fan gathering may have already won the title for cutest celebration of the tournament.
On July 4, a group of Mexican soccer fans gathered with dozens of pampered Chihuahuas dressed in tiny jerseys to support the national team. The miniature fans quickly stole the spotlight, turning the event into an adorable display that delighted both sports lovers and pet parents.
English football supporter Libby McEelhinney shared video of the gathering on X, where it quickly went viral. The clip soon caught the attention of news outlets, including NBC Los Angeles, as viewers fell in love with the dogs and their matching Mexico uniforms.

The Chihuahuas may have been the smallest soccer supporters at the World Cup, but they brought plenty of personality. Many calmly posed for photos or allowed their owners to lift them into the air, while a few appeared less enthusiastic about all the excitement.
One particularly feisty pup could be seen near the bottom of the crowd being held by a man wearing a black hat. The tiny dog appeared ready to make its feelings known, proving that Chihuahuas can pack plenty of attitude into a very small package.
“The Taco Bell Chihuahua would have been proud,” one viewer, @marcofreshone, joked in the comments.
The famous advertising dog was named Gidget, a Chihuahua who became widely recognized as the face of Taco Bell. Until her death in 2009, Gidget was no stranger to the spotlight and became one of the most memorable canine mascots in television history.
