Bringing a new dog into the family can be unpredictable, especially when the pups have completely different sizes, ages and energy levels.
For one mature Golden Retriever, the arrival of a tiny Dachshund puppy meant her calm routine was about to be interrupted by nonstop bouncing, nibbling and playtime. Fortunately, the patient Golden appears to love every second of it.
In a recent TikTok shared by @amandaasette, the little Dachshund wastes no time settling into her new home and claiming her much larger canine sister as her personal playmate.
The video, set to music from The Nutcracker, opens with the caption, “They are besties already.”
The fearless puppy is first seen nibbling at the Golden Retriever’s back paws while she tries to enjoy a peaceful midday nap. Before long, the pair launches into an energetic game with a plush pizza toy.
Despite the constant interruptions, the gentle Golden takes everything in stride. She happily plays along as the much smaller puppy pounces, climbs and does everything possible to keep the fun going.
The sweetest moment comes at the end of the video, when the unlikely pair curls up together for a cozy cuddle.

Viewers quickly fell in love with the new best friends, especially their matching golden coats and dramatic size difference.

The pups’ owner agreed, revealing that the tiny newcomer had already taken control after only one week.
“We’ve had this one for a week, and she’s already running the house,” she replied.
