A sneaky dog named Trigger is winning over the internet after getting caught in what looks like a very suspicious coffee-related crime scene — while somehow maintaining total innocence.
The funny moment was shared by his owner, who had stepped away from her coffee for just a couple of minutes.
When she came back, the drink was everywhere.
Coffee had splashed across the table and nearby lamp, and there was one very obvious suspect sitting nearby.
Trigger.
His owner immediately started questioning him about what happened.
Trigger, however, had absolutely nothing to say.
That might have worked — if the evidence wasn’t literally all over his face.
The guilty-looking pup sat there quietly while his mom tried to figure out who had knocked over the coffee, seemingly unaware that his coffee-splattered muzzle was making the investigation pretty easy.
Still, his owner jokingly reminded viewers that Trigger was “INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!”

And the internet was more than willing to defend him.
Thousands of viewers rushed to Trigger’s side, offering up alternative suspects including ghosts, earthquakes and even the cats.
One person joked that whoever drank the coffee must have also splashed it all over the poor dog’s face.
Another insisted Trigger had simply been minding his own business when disaster struck.
Others were far more concerned about the pup’s adorable freckles than the missing coffee.
The whole thing turned into a hilarious online mystery, with commenters demanding updates once the real culprit was finally identified.
Of course, Trigger’s expression didn’t exactly help his defense.
Dogs are experts at looking innocent after getting into something they probably shouldn’t, whether it’s a favorite shoe, a plate of food or, apparently, someone’s morning coffee.
And while the video is funny, there is one important reminder for dog owners.
Coffee and other caffeinated drinks are not safe for dogs. Caffeine can cause restlessness, vomiting, elevated heart rate, tremors and other serious symptoms depending on how much is consumed.
So while Trigger’s coffee caper made for a hilarious video, mugs are definitely best kept far out of reach.
As for whether Trigger was actually responsible?
The jury is still out.
But that face is going to be very difficult to explain.
