The love of a dog will never fade, even when you move away from home after growing up together like siblings.
A schnauzer called Stan has melted hearts on social media after his sister (his owners’ daughter) shared a collection of heartwarming clips of him showing up at her door to say hi and get playtime with her kids.
In a post shared on TikTok on Wednesday by @lexieandunclestan, the pup from Oregon can be seen having the time of his life playing with his sister’s kids.
“When you move down the street from your parents house and their dog comes to see you every day…” the caption reads.

“This is my little brother Stan. My kids call him ‘Uncle Stan.’ We live on a family farm and get to have lots of adventures together. A little rain or snow doesn’t stop him from making these visits.
“We always make sure he gets a ride home after his visits. Stan gets lots of play time, treats, snuggles and car rides! We are so lucky to have this Uncle in our lives and to be able to share him with you!”
The poster told Newsweek that Stan is a 14-year-old miniature Schnauzer who lives with her parents on their family farm and has always loved the freedom of living on the farm, chasing birds around the property.
“He grew up with a busy house and with lots of kids around and now that everyone is grown, it has quieted down a lot at his home! I think he misses having kids around! I was a teenager at the time we got Stan and us kids and our friends loved playing with him! He was always a very playful and loving dog (& brother lol),” she said.
After suffering from an accident that hurt his backside and limited his mobility for months, Stan made a full recovery and began heading to her house for daily visits.
“[He] walks to my house, a half-mile down the road from his, to visit me and my kids every morning and evening! We would wake up to his barks early in the morning and just before bed, he would be at the door again,” she said.
“He would take the opportunity to make these visits during the times my parents let him out for potty breaks. He would immediately just dart down the road. My mom sends me texts to look out for Stan when he is on his way. Only family lives on our street, and he travels through the fields/neighbors’ yards to get here.”
If you’re lucky enough to have the love of a dog, know that it’s probably forever, and even if you move away from them they’ll never forget you! According to PetMD, most dogs have enough memory to remember their favorite people, places, and things.
Stan remembered the way to his sister’s home from his early days, the poster said.
“[He] was always familiar with where I live because I live in my grandparents’ old house, where, as kids, we would take him on walks to visit!”
