Over the decades, movies and media have spread many myths about dogs that people still believe today. For example, it was (and still is) widely believed that dogs see in black and white, but the reality is that our canine friends can pick up on a few colors. Another popular trope about dogs is that they’re mortal enemies with mailmen, but this is rarely true.
But then there are dogs like Opal who disown the stereotypes in the cutest ways. After moving to the suburbs with her family—including two other Corgis—she found a friend in the man who dropped off their mail each day.
Their visits became the highlight of Opal’s day, but she had no idea that her mom was watching happily from the window. On December 23, the dog mom shared the most heartwarming compilation of clips from Opal and the mailman’s visits, but the most precious moment of all happens at the very end of the video.

Aww! These two are besties no matter the weather, and it’s clear that these visits are just as special to Opal as they are to Jonathan the mailman. The way she jumps with excitement when she sees him is truly priceless, and he wastes no time telling her hello, either. Her wagging tail says it all!
“My dad was a mailman, and he knew the name of EVERY pet on his route, if they could receive treats, and what they preferred,” shared @ashmalm93. That’s the sweetest thing! Meeting neighborhood dogs is a major perk of being a mail carrier, but it sounds like Opal has an extra special place in her mailman’s heart. He even wrote her a card and gave her a dog toy Christmas gift! And best of all, he confirmed that Opal is indeed the favorite dog on his route.
