Deciding when to add more fur babies to the family can be a long and tedious process, but it can also happen spontaneously. When you meet the right dog—you just know! Whether you see them in a video or meet them at an adoption event, that love-at-first-sight feeling can never be replicated…unless you’re the owners of rescue dogs Zoey and Jazz!

First, Amanda and Daniel of Santa Clara, California, rescued Malinois/Husky mix Jazz from a local animal rescue in 2022. Almost 3 years later, they had been considering sharing their love with another shelter dog, but a picture they saw on the County of Santa Clara Animal Services’ Facebook page left them in shock. As they shared with ABC News, they immediately knew that the dog in the picture had found her forever home.

Jazz and Zoey are the most beautiful sisters! I can only imagine the sense of deja vu that Amanda and Daniel must have felt when they saw Zoey’s picture for the first time, but seeing both dogs together must have felt like it was meant to be. The canine DNA tests only confirmed it!

When they saw the shelter puppy’s picture for the first time, Amanda told her husband (and later told ABC News), “We can’t leave ‘Little Jazz’ in the shelter. That’s what it felt like.” They kept the dogs separated at first in order to let Zoey decompress, but it didn’t take long before they were desperate to get to one another. Once they finally sniffed each other and met face-to-face, everyone began to put 2 and 2 together!

Looking back, it’s so clear why the Belgian Malinois mixes look so much alike, so it didn’t take long for the dog owners to order DNA tests for the girls. And sure enough, these shelter dogs with a 3-year age difference are long-lost sisters!
