In a heartwarming moment that proves friendship knows no size, the world’s tallest and smallest dogs finally met — and the result was as adorable as you’d expect.
Reginald “Reggie,” a gentle Great Dane from Idaho who stands at a towering 3 feet 3 inches tall, welcomed tiny Pearl, a 3.59-inch-tall Chihuahua from Florida, to his home as part of Guinness World Records’ 70th anniversary celebration.
The meeting took place in April 2025 and was full of wagging tails and cautious curiosity. A video shared by Guinness World Records shows Reggie greeting Pearl with the kind of care usually reserved for precious treasures — which, let’s be honest, she kind of is. Pearl, who could comfortably sit in the palm of a hand, seemed unfazed by her towering new friend.
Despite their dramatic size difference, the two quickly settled in, taking a stroll together and even sharing a cozy nap. Their owners say they weren’t surprised at how smoothly it all went.
“I’m not worried that Reggie won’t be careful around Pearl. He’s very, very cautious and aware,” said Reggie’s owner, Sam Johnson Reiss. “I think he’ll be more curious about Pearl’s humans than Pearl herself!”
Pearl’s owner, Vanesa Semler, added, “She loves big dogs. I don’t think she even realizes how small she is. She just wants to be included in the fun.”
While the moment may have been organized for a global milestone, for the dogs and their humans, it was simply about connection — and maybe a few curious sniffs. Reggie’s calm demeanor helped ease any nerves, and Pearl’s confident attitude made her the perfect guest.
Both Reiss and Semler said they’re thankful that their dogs bring smiles to people everywhere.
“If Reggie makes one person happy, then that’s a win,” Reiss said. Semler added, “These little creatures are family. You can see the love in every photo and video.”
From a dog the size of a baseball bat to one the size of, well, a small couch, this unlikely duo is living proof that the best friendships come in all shapes and sizes.
Would you ever let your dog meet one 50 times their size?
