Whether you live in an area with animals abound or like to escape the urban jungle with a glimpse into nature, viewing wildlife cameras can be a fun way to pass the time. You never know what you may see or hear! In my parents’ backyard in the California foothills, they see everything from deer to frogs, and even the occasional black bear, but even they have seen nothing quite like this.

In April, the Cornwall Wildlife Trust shared a hilarious nighttime clip from one of their wildlife cameras around the English village. In the video, a beaver appears hard at work collecting materials for their dam, but if you watch the video with the audio turned up, you’ll hear what’s really happening.

The beaver fled the scene like they knew the camera caught their embarrassing moment, but fortunately, they have no idea just how many people have enjoyed the well-timed video.

LOL, there isn’t much else one can do when nature calls, and in a way, it’s nice to know that humans and animals share a few universal experiences. If a toot doesn’t get in the way of a beaver’s productive night, why are they such a big deal for humans?

Society puts expectations on every bodily function, including passing gas, but this lucky beaver has no sense of what’s ‘acceptable’ or ‘unacceptable.’ They’re just enjoying life on the river, as they should! Even though they fled the scene shortly after breaking wind, it probably had more to do with getting back to the dam than with being embarrassed.

Even if the wild animal didn’t think twice about the toot, video viewers had a field day with the hilarious trail cam footage. Cerena teased that the beaver “had to leave the house to let it out,” while Jojo said, “Now this is journalism.” Breaking wind is clearly also breaking news, especially when it comes from such a cute animal.
