Peanut isn’t your average housecat—she’s a part-time firehouse celebrity with a growing fanbase on TikTok. The curious kitty has gone viral for tagging along with her owner, Lamine Fofana, to his volunteer firefighter shifts in Arbutus, Maryland.

Fofana, a second lieutenant in EMS, started bringing Peanut to the fire station on Sundays to keep her from being home alone. What began as casual visits quickly turned into something special. Peanut now roams the station like she owns the place—greeting firefighters, exploring the fire trucks, and occasionally posing behind the wheel.
“She enjoys coming around. She loves all the people. There’s a lot for her to explore,” Fofana said. “Most of the time, she’s just walking around saying hi to everyone.”
Though she doesn’t hold an official rank, Peanut does have her own name tag at the station—and a growing list of admirers. A recent TikTok of her exploring the firehouse racked up a staggering 3.5 million views, drawing attention from cat lovers and firefighters alike.
The entire crew has embraced Peanut as one of their own. Fofana says his coworkers even ask about her if he shows up without her. “When I come without her, they ask me where she is and why she didn’t come,” he said.
The team is even working on a custom firesuit for the feline, though Peanut isn’t a fan of hats. Still, she’s a fixture at the station, and her visits have inspired other departments to consider adopting a firehouse cat.
One TikTok commenter put it best: “Sharing with my boss (fire chief) to show him we do in fact need a station cat.”
While Peanut may never slide down a pole or put out a blaze, she’s proving that sometimes the best morale booster comes with whiskers and a tail.

Having a cat around certainly DOES boost morale. Good job, Peanut 😻
Cats have this wonderful energy that can help heal troubled minds and souls 💞💕💗
TY, Lamine, for sharing your sweet kitty 💖
