I remember elementary school as a time of discovery, play, and creativity. Studious habits always came naturally to me, and my love of learning helped me soak up so many interesting facts about the world.

My biggest challenge in attending elementary school in a dog-friendly town was my childhood phobia of dogs. However, if my school had organized a pet parade like Park Magnet School in Hot Springs, Arkansas, I might have been able to overcome my fears sooner.

That’s right—on May 20, this school had the genius idea to host a pet parade for students to show off their furry and scaly friends. If you ask me, every school should give students this fun and educational opportunity!

This is a delightful way to start the day at school, especially for pet-loving families who get to share their animals with the students. Not everyone has the chance to grow up with a pet, so having this close-up experience is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn more about animals while enjoying a fun new experience with their classmates.

We had a Bring Your Pet to School Day in elementary school,” a commenter named Abby shared. “It was madness, but it’s one of my favorite school memories.”

This goes to show that many of the most memorable and educational school experiences happen outside of the classroom. Whether a class is touring a museum or meeting pet rabbits, snakes, and even tarantulas, these are the days students will never forget.
