It takes a big heart to rescue a pet, but it takes an extraordinary team to help puppies with disabilities and serious injuries not just survive, but thrive. That’s exactly what the Cleft Rescue Unit (CRU) in Rochester, New York, is all about.

Every year, CRU welcomes dozens of brave little pups like Walter, the tiny English Bulldog, and Matilda, the Miniature Dachshund, who need special care, medical equipment, and extra love. The team pairs these pups with foster families where they can heal, grow, and even find a lifelong best friend—like Walter and Matilda did.

A heartwarming TikTok video from October 22 captures the adorable pair mid-play, napping, cuddling, and just being their sweet selves. Walter, weighing just one pound, looks like a miniature wrestler as he bounces around, while Matilda’s little kicks are impossible not to smile at. Their bond has captured the hearts of thousands online, and it’s clear these two adore each other.

“That’s the cutest round of WWE ever seen,” wrote one viewer. “Walter got the best of her in 3 rounds.”

For those who follow CRU, seeing Walter and Matilda at play is also a reminder of how far these pups have come. Matilda, who lost her front legs shortly after birth, is learning to move independently, while Walter grows stronger every day, preparing for the moment he can walk on his own.

Caring for disabled dogs takes patience and creativity, but there’s nothing quite as rewarding. Matilda is getting used to her tiny wheelchair, and although she’s not ready to zoom around just yet, she’ll be racing through her foster home soon. Walter is steadily building his strength and confidence with every playful moment.

These little pups may keep their foster mama busy, but their joy, determination, and adorable antics make it all worth it. Watching them play is a reminder that love, care, and a little teamwork can make miracles happen for these tiny heroes.
