It’s no secret that most pets have a favorite person, even if they adore everyone else in the house. But every household also seems to have that one “spare human”—the person the pet only approaches when absolutely necessary. For Dixie the Chihuahua, that unfortunate title belongs to her dad.

Dixie has two great loves: her mom and fashion. She’s all about getting dressed up and happily lets her mom handle outfit changes. But when her dad dares to touch her favorite dress? Absolutely not. Dixie makes her feelings crystal clear!

As one TikTok user, @MeganJensen698, put it, “She was waiting for him to try something!” Another commenter, @Reeey, joked, “He must’ve stretched or ripped one of her fav outfits cause she is NOT playin with him LOL!” Dixie’s message to Dad was loud and proud: hands off the wardrobe.

Are Chihuahuas really this possessive? Actually, yes. According to Wag!, Chihuahuas often form deep attachments to one person and may reject others—not because they’re mean, but because they tend to bond best with people whose personalities match their own. High-energy pups often gravitate toward equally energetic humans.

That intense loyalty can sometimes lead to possessive or protective behavior, like growling or snapping when someone else gets too close. While this usually comes from love, it’s not something you want to encourage. Early training and socialization can help prevent it from turning into a bad habit.

So is there any hope for Dixie’s dad? Definitely. Wag! suggests spending more quality time together—playing, going for walks, or letting the “spare human” hand out treats. Food, after all, is one of the fastest ways to a dog’s heart.

Good luck, Dad. You might not be her favorite yet, but with enough patience (and snacks), you just might win her over.
