Bringing home a new baby is one of life’s sweetest moments — and introducing that little bundle to the family pets makes it even better. For first-time mom Allie Tokarczyk (@atokarr), it’s been pure magic watching her Goldendoodle, Lucy, fall instantly and completely in love with her newborn daughter, born in October.
Ever since the baby came home, Lucy has barely left her side. In a now-viral video, Allie tries to gently scoot the fluffy guardian away from the sleeping newborn, but Lucy refuses to budge. She’s curled up right next to the baby, determined to stay on duty. Her stubborn commitment is melting hearts everywhere — and honestly, who can blame her? In Lucy’s mind, that’s her baby now.

Allie even captioned the video, “That’s HER baby!” and she’s absolutely right.
Commenters were obsessed with the sweet bond. One viewer joked, “Thank you for carrying my child. She’s with me now and we’re happy. Goodbye.” Another added, “Lucy: I’m babysitting… go about your business!” Allie replied laughing, “The look she gave me LOL!”
A newborn nurse chimed in with a hilarious comment about development: “‘Fur to jammies’ is a critical regulation need for the Golden Decade after birth — so please do not disturb.” Someone else teased Allie, asking, “Ma’am, do you have an appointment to see the baby?”
Many viewers also pointed out how gentle Lucy instinctively is. “It’s amazing that they know exactly where to put their head so they’re not suffocating the baby. Best friends they will be,” one commenter wrote. Another joked, “Legend has it Lucy still hasn’t moved…”
While this kind of bonding is heart-melting, experts remind new parents to always supervise interactions between pets and newborns — no matter how gentle the dog may be. Some pups can get overly protective or attached, so it’s important to set boundaries early on.
But one thing is clear: As this baby grows, she and Lucy are destined to be inseparable best friends.
