Ever since cat videos took over the internet, “making biscuits” has become the go-to way to describe one of a cat’s most adorable habits. Most cats knead their paws against soft surfaces, other pets, or even thin air when they’re feeling happy—but some “baking sessions” are more amusing than others.
Meet Onyx, a striking Maine Coon who puts a whole new spin on biscuit-making. On November 23, he was caught in bed, kneading away—but his angry-looking expression had viewers scratching their heads. Was he content? Or just really focused?

One TikTok commenter, @nicachurch, joked, “I think he’s mad about the overtime, honestly.” Another, @freddyfeathers, quipped that Onyx had swapped “delicious biscuits” for “malicious biscuits.” Either way, there’s no denying this black cat takes his work seriously—and he isn’t stopping anytime soon.
So why do cats make biscuits? For kittens, kneading helps stimulate milk production from their mother while nursing, and the instinct sticks around for life. Adult cats knead to show affection, ask for attention, or even prepare a comfy spot for a nap. It’s also a way for them to express contentment—or just say, “I love you.” There’s no single reason behind the behavior, but one thing’s for sure: if your cat is baking biscuits, consider it a huge compliment.
Onyx may look grumpy while he works, but underneath that serious face is a master baker of the feline world.
