If you spend enough time scrolling TikTok and Instagram, you start to think you’ve seen every kind of chaotic pet imaginable. Then along comes a golden retriever who completely resets the bar.

One of the rowdiest pups making the rounds lately belongs to TikTok user @imbluethesiberiann, and a recent backyard pool video has racked up millions of views for good reason. This golden retriever isn’t just playing in the pool — he’s living for it.

The clip opens with the dog’s human dad gripping him tightly by the pool, while on-screen text reads, “Trying to get my golden retriever puppy out of the pool.” That plan lasts about two seconds. Bauer, the golden in question, wriggles free, sprints full speed, and launches himself into the water with what can only be described as a chaotic front-flip-somersault combo. Watching it, you can almost hear the inevitable coming — and sure enough, his dad throws his hands up and sighs, “Here we go.”

What follows is over a minute of pure golden retriever madness. Bauer is chased around the pool, scooped up, set down, and immediately ignored as he makes a beeline back for the water again and again.

In the next stretch of the video, Bauer is soaking wet and zooming laps around the pool while his exhausted dad pleads, “Do not go back in that pool. We’re done. You’ve been out here for three hours.” He sets Bauer down and tells him to wait while he grabs a towel. Bauer does not wait. He bolts and cannonballs straight back into the pool.

Things escalate when the second golden retriever, Maverick, enters the scene. At first, he looks like he’s there to help. Instead, he grabs the towel and turns it into a tug-of-war toy. “Don’t rip the towel!” the dad yells, as Maverick happily ignores him.

Meanwhile, Bauer is still sprinting laps with an empty food bowl in his mouth, because of course he is. When his dad finally manages to catch him and start drying him off, Bauer slips away and jumps right back into the pool. Maverick, not to be outdone, resumes his towel-destroying duties — and this time, he actually rips it apart.

By the end, Bauer is back in the pool with the remains of the towel, and his dad officially gives up, surrendering to the chaos and letting the golden have his pool time.

If this all sounds familiar, that’s because Bauer has form. He’s the same golden retriever who recently popped his dad’s pool float in another viral moment. Golden retrievers may be lovable and sweet, but when it comes to water, they’re also dramatic, relentless, and absolutely unstoppable — which just happens to make them perfect stars of the internet.
