A couple hiking through Nicaragua thought they were heading toward a peaceful waterfall—but instead, they picked up the cutest (and sneakiest) tour guide imaginable.
While making their way down the trail, traveler Angelina Nicollle and her partner noticed something unusual tagging along behind them. It wasn’t another hiker… it was a raccoon.
And not just any raccoon.
This little guy clearly knew exactly what he was doing.
At first, Angelina was confused as the curious critter refused to leave their side, casually following them along the path like he belonged there. But it quickly became obvious—this wasn’t random. This raccoon had done this before.
A lot.
The furry local appeared totally comfortable around humans, trotting alongside the couple all the way to the waterfall like a seasoned guide. And just when you think it couldn’t get any cuter—he even jumped into the water for a swim with them.
Yes, really.
But here’s where things take a hilarious turn.
Once everyone was relaxed and distracted, the raccoon’s true mission became clear. This wasn’t just a friendly hangout—he was working the crowd. Whether it was snacks, attention, or a little reward for his “guiding services,” this clever animal knew exactly how to charm his way into getting what he wanted.

Social media users couldn’t get enough.
“Clearly, that’s the tour guide,” one person joked—and honestly, they might be right. The raccoon seemed to know the trail like the back of his paw.
Others compared him to Meeko from Pocahontas, the mischievous raccoon sidekick known for his love of food and playful antics—and the comparison is spot on.
Despite his sneaky strategy, people don’t seem to mind at all. In fact, most hikers are more than happy to give him a snack—or even try to sneak in a cuddle.
And maybe that’s why he keeps coming back.
As one commenter pointed out, the reason he approaches people so confidently is likely because he’s been treated kindly time and time again.
Honestly, it’s hard to blame him. If being adorable gets you snacks and new friends every day, why stop?
