Sometimes the sweetest stories come out of heartbreak.

After losing her own kittens, a grieving mama cat named Nash found herself with an unexpected new purpose—caring for two tiny orphaned squirrels who suddenly had no one.

In a touching video shared by @hobbyfarmlife22, the moment unfolds in the most heart-melting way. Instead of rejecting the unfamiliar babies, Nash immediately steps in, curling around them and treating them just like her own.

And honestly, she doesn’t seem to notice—or care—that her new little ones look completely different.

Nash had recently lost two of her kittens in a tragic accident on the farm, leaving her with all the instincts of a mother but no babies to care for. So when the orphaned squirrels were brought to her, something incredible happened—she filled that space with love.

Now, she’s constantly watching over them, keeping them warm, and giving them the comfort they desperately need to survive.

Of course, the internet had questions.

“Wait… do squirrels even drink milk?” one commenter asked, echoing what plenty of people were thinking.

According to the farm owner, the baby squirrels were originally being fed a special puppy formula before Nash took over mom duties. While they can still be supplemented if needed, so far, they’ve been thriving under her care.

Experts say orphaned squirrels are often fed milk replacers like puppy formula, especially in their early weeks. As they grow, they can slowly transition to solid foods—but in the meantime, what they need just as much as nutrition is warmth, safety, and bonding.

And that’s exactly what Nash is giving them.
