Retirement is supposed to be peaceful. Just ask Edda, a tiny senior Chihuahua who clearly believes her golden years should be spent relaxing in the grass without interruption.

Unfortunately, one bug had other plans.

In a sweet and hilarious TikTok video, Edda is seen lying calmly outside, soaking up the quiet like a true retired queen. Everything seems perfectly peaceful until the little dog suddenly jumps in surprise.

“She got startled by a bug,” the on-screen text explains.

Honestly, same.

Fans of Edda already know this very elderly Chihuahua has plenty of personality packed into her tiny body. Even though she has made it far into her senior years, she has not lost her spark. Edda still runs, digs, rolls around outside and reacts to life’s little surprises with full dramatic flair.

Viewers could not get enough of her tiny size and big attitude.

“Well, of course, she’s 3 apples tall,” one person joked.

Another commenter had a more royal suggestion, writing, “Please procure her a fainting couch, lest she find herself frightened again.”

Someone else imagined what Edda must have been thinking, adding, “I swear I heard an ‘OH good heavens!’ when she laid back.”

Other viewers said they completely understood her reaction.

“I too was startled by a bug today, little buddy,” one person wrote.

Another summed it up perfectly: “Me at the slightest inconvenience.”

For anyone who has ever had a Chihuahua or another small dog, Edda’s reaction may look very familiar. Tiny dogs can be surprisingly sensitive to sudden sounds, movements or sensations. One second they are relaxing, and the next they are leaping like something major just happened.

Sometimes the cause is a noise. Dogs hear much better than humans, so a small sound to us can feel much louder and more startling to them.

In Edda’s case, it looked like she was surprised by the feeling of a bug on or near her. Just like people, dogs can react instantly when something brushes against their skin.

Of course, some outdoor pests can be more than just annoying. Fleas, ticks and other insects can bother pets, so it is always smart to keep an eye on dogs after they spend time in the grass.

Thankfully, Edda recovered quickly from her shocking bug encounter.

After her brief moment of drama, the tiny Chihuahua went right back to enjoying retirement mode, proving once again that even the smallest inconvenience deserves a big reaction.
