Larry the duck has discovered the good life, and unfortunately for her humans, it involves taking over the backyard pool.

In a hilarious TikTok video, Larry can be seen happily zooming across the surface of the pool, splashing around like she owns the place. And honestly, she kind of does now.

Her owner admitted they have no idea how to keep the determined duck out of the water.

“I don’t know what else to do to keep Larry out of the pool anymore,” the caption explained. “I guess I’ll have to cover it. She really enjoys swimming in it, but I’m worried she might dirty the water, and I’m also afraid that the pool chemicals could be harmful to her.”

That concern makes sense. Pools may look like giant luxury ponds to a duck, but chlorine and other chemicals can be risky for animals. Still, Larry clearly did not get the memo.

In the clip, she glides across the water with pure joy, kicking her little feet and splashing like she just found her personal resort.

Viewers immediately took Larry’s side.

“I mean, maybe you just need to stay out of Larry’s pool,” one person joked.

“This is Larry’s pool now,” another commenter added.

It is not exactly shocking that Larry loves the water. Ducks are built for swimming. Their webbed feet help them paddle through lakes, ponds and apparently backyard pools with ease.

Their legs are set farther back on their bodies, which helps them push through the water. Their large webbed feet act almost like paddles, giving them the power to glide forward.

Ducks also have special feathers that help protect them from the cold and allow them to dry quickly. A thick layer of down keeps them insulated, while their feathers help them handle life on land, in the air and in the water.

Some ducks can even dive and hold their breath underwater thanks to their strong lungs.

So while Larry’s obsession with the pool may be inconvenient, it is also completely natural.

The only problem is that her humans may have officially lost ownership of the backyard oasis.
