Golden Retrievers have a reputation for being everyone’s best friend, and one sweet puppy just proved that may be true.
A precious Golden Retriever pup melted hearts after spotting the tiniest little turtle in the grass and deciding, almost immediately, that they were going to be friends.
Gracie Holsonback shared the adorable moment, showing her puppy gently watching the slow-moving turtle as it made its way across the yard. The pairing could not have been more unexpected, but somehow, it worked perfectly.
The puppy seemed completely fascinated by the tiny creature. Instead of barking, jumping or trying to scare it away, the Golden simply stayed close and watched with the softest curiosity.
The turtle did not seem bothered by the attention either. In fact, it kept moving along at its own very slow pace, as if having a giant fluffy shadow was no big deal.
“When your Golden thinks every creature is her friend,” the video’s text overlay read.

And honestly, that pretty much sums up the whole scene.
The puppy looked like she could not understand why her new little friend was so tiny, so quiet and so slow. Maybe she thought the turtle was just another puppy in a very unusual outfit.
Viewers could not get enough of the gentle interaction.
“That’s because they are [friends], no question. Your baby is adorable, as is her friend,” one person wrote.
“She’s precious,” another commenter gushed.
“He’s so gentle,” someone else added.
Other pet owners joked that their own dogs would never be so calm around a tiny animal.
“My dog thinks every creature is her food,” one person joked.
But this little Golden clearly had a different plan.
To her, the turtle was not strange or scary. It was just another possible friend passing through the yard.
And with that kind of sweet Golden Retriever energy, it is hard not to believe she was right.
