A Highland cow named Matilda is stealing hearts online after getting the beach day of her dreams.
Farmer Brooke Atkins took the adorable cow to the beach for the very first time on the Mid North Coast in New South Wales, Australia, and the video has since gone viral.
Atkins shared the clip on Instagram last week, where it quickly racked up more than 3 million views.
In the sweet video, Matilda can be seen wearing a leash as she happily trots across the sand at sunset. The fluffy cow wastes no time heading straight for the water, exploring the coastline and even taking a dip alongside Atkins’ dog.
“Take your cow with you!” Atkins wrote. “They only get to see what you show them!”
She added in the caption, “Who said cows don’t want to adventure too! Matilda had the time of her life checking out the surf for the first time.”

Matilda’s big beach moment was such a hit that she even made an appearance on the Australian morning show Today on Wednesday, June 24. For her TV debut, the cute calf dressed up in a flower crown.
Atkins described Matilda as a total “diva” and said she was surprised by how much the cow loved the beach.
“That was her first trip ever to the beach and she absolutely loved it,” Atkins said. “She jumped off the float, saw the water and just took off trodding down to the water.”
Atkins said she had started feeling guilty because her horses often get to leave the stables, while Matilda usually stays behind.
“I started to feel guilty and I thought why not take the cow? So, here we are,” she said.
The farmer explained that Matilda led the way toward the ocean and seemed thrilled by the whole adventure.
Other beachgoers were just as surprised.
Atkins said people kept doing double takes when they spotted a Highland cow frolicking on the shore, which she found hilarious.
When asked how she got Matilda to the beach in the first place, Atkins said she simply loaded her into the horse cart and drove her there.
The video has collected more than 312,000 likes and thousands of comments from viewers who could not get enough of Matilda’s joy.
“We took our lamb to the beach too, he loved it,” one person wrote.
“This brought tears to my eyes! Look how happy he is,” another commented.
“Watching this makes me smile and feel happy inside,” someone else added.
Matilda’s personality apparently does not stop at beach trips. Atkins also revealed that the curious cow once wandered inside her house after the front door was left open.
“I had to put a cow on the TV and she absolutely loved it,” Atkins said.
Now, after her first beach day, Matilda has become the internet’s favorite seaside cow — and honestly, she looks like she was made for sunset strolls by the water.
