Dogs and ducks may not seem like the most natural combination, but inside @niahdesignco’s home, the unlikely arrangement somehow works perfectly.
The Utah-based tattoo artist and proud dog mom recently brought home three Indian Runner Ducks named Coconut, Butters and Cashew. But instead of bonding only with their human caretaker, the tiny ducks delivered the cutest plot twist: they imprinted on her English Bulldog.
Now, the three little ducks are completely obsessed with their new “mom.” The Bulldog, however, does not seem quite as thrilled about her surprise promotion.
In a June 20 video, the confused pup can be seen wandering through the family’s lush backyard while Coconut, Butters and Cashew follow close behind like tiny, determined shadows. She keeps glancing back at them as if she cannot understand why these little birds have suddenly decided she is in charge.

The ducks clearly think they have found their queen. The Bulldog, meanwhile, looks like she is slowly realizing that motherhood has arrived whether she asked for it or not.
“Her looking back” had commenters like @doseoffrank laughing out loud, and it is easy to see why. The Bulldog may be overwhelmed by becoming a parent overnight, but her comedic timing is flawless.
Another commenter, @.Lesbe.honest, gave people even more reason to smile by writing, “I’ve never seen ducks in little brown turtlenecks.” Once you notice it, it is impossible to unsee. The Runner Ducks really do look like they waddled straight out of a tiny fall fashion catalog.
Still, no matter how adorable they look to everyone else, their Bulldog mom appears a little less convinced.
Luckily, Coconut, Butters and Cashew are in great hands. During the day, the ducks get to roam the garden and explore the yard, following their canine “mom” wherever she goes. At night, they are safely tucked into a special enclosure built just for them.
With a loving human watching over them and one very confused Bulldog reluctantly supervising the flock, these three little ducks have found themselves the sweetest setup.
They may not have picked the most traditional mom, but they definitely picked one with patience, personality and a very expressive face.
