Every shelter dog has a story, but France’s is especially heartbreaking and hopeful.
The one-year-old mixed-breed pup was found wandering as a stray in Houston, Texas, before being taken to BARC Animal Shelter, where staff began searching for the family listed on his microchip.
France had clearly belonged to someone before. However, when shelter workers contacted the people connected to the chip, they reportedly said they did not want to come pick him up.
Instead of letting that rejection crush his spirit, France has continued greeting everyone he meets with pure joy.
The bubbly pup wags his tail so hard that his entire body seems to shake whenever someone stops by his kennel. He also breaks into an adorable little dance, flashing a huge smile as he tries to win over every visitor who passes.
Shelter volunteer @bristexastails shared France’s story online, showing just how affectionate and eager for attention he is.
Along with his playful personality, France appears comfortable being held and remains calm and well-behaved when picked up.
