A Golden Retriever’s emotional turnaround has melted hearts online after he learned that a disappointing weekend without his favorite person would come with one very exciting surprise.
In a TikTok video, the sweet dog named Wally sat beside his mom as she gently explained that his dad would be away for the entire weekend.
As soon as she delivered the “bad news,” Wally’s face appeared to drop. The disappointed pup stared ahead with a dejected expression as he seemingly tried to process the upsetting announcement.
“We can’t stay here by ourselves all weekend. That would be so sad,” his mom told him.
But just when Wally appeared convinced that the weekend was ruined, she revealed their backup plan.
“We’re going to Grandma’s,” she announced.
The change in Wally was immediate.

His ears perked up, his eyes widened and he looked toward his mom as though he needed confirmation that he had heard her correctly. Once she repeated that they really were going to visit Grandma, the gloomy Golden Retriever could no longer contain his excitement.
Wally snuggled against his mom and flashed a huge grin, apparently deciding that a weekend without Dad might not be so terrible after all.
Viewers were delighted by the dog’s dramatic shift from heartbreak to happiness.
