A playful elephant in Thailand has delighted viewers by stealing her caretaker’s favorite hat and flashing what appears to be an enormous, mischievous smile.
Faa Mai, a 16-year-old elephant living at Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, shares an especially close bond with the caretaker the sanctuary affectionately calls “Mom.”
The clever elephant has apparently noticed that Mom is rarely seen without her favorite hat. So when Faa Mai wants a little extra attention, she sometimes reaches over with her trunk and snatches it straight off her head.
In the adorable video, Faa Mai looks extremely pleased with herself as her caretaker laughs and asks for the hat back.
The sound makes the moment even sweeter, with Mom’s laughter revealing just how familiar she is with the elephant’s playful routine.
