Orange cats already have a reputation for being friendly little social butterflies, but one adorable tabby may have taken things to a whole new level.
His best friend isn’t another cat.
It’s a hamster.
The unbelievably cute pair are both orange, and judging by their daily routine, they seem to think that makes them family.
A video shared online begins with the orange cat patiently waiting beside the hamster’s enclosure while his tiny buddy finishes eating.
“My cat waits patiently on my hamster to finish its food so they can have play time together,” text over the clip explains.
Sure enough, once mealtime is over, the hamster is ready to go.
The tiny pet climbs right onto the cat and appears to hitch a ride on his much bigger best friend as the two begin their playtime together.
It didn’t take long for viewers to fall in love with the unusual friendship.

“This is the cutest freaking friendship I have ever seen!” the caption read.
One commenter imagined how the friendship probably started, joking, “‘You’re orange too? Let’s be friends.’”
Another wrote, “Aww, ur pet has a pet.”
And one viewer summed up the whole situation perfectly with just four words: “This is so orange cat.”
Honestly, it’s hard to argue with that.
The patient waiting, the instant friendship and the complete lack of concern about their enormous size difference all seem to fit the famously goofy orange-cat personality.
Of course, pet owners should still be cautious when cats and small animals spend time together.
Even the sweetest house cat can have natural hunting instincts, and tiny pets such as hamsters can easily become frightened or injured. Interactions between cats and small animals should always be closely supervised, and hamsters should have a secure enclosure and a safe space away from larger pets.
That makes this orange duo especially unusual.
For now, though, these two seem perfectly happy with their arrangement — one finishes dinner while the other waits patiently for playtime to begin.
And once the hamster climbs aboard his orange ride, the adventure can officially start.
