Dogs and mail carriers have had a famously complicated relationship for generations, and one pup recently decided to keep that tradition alive — right in the middle of traffic.
A woman named Liv was stopped at a red light when she noticed a USPS van in the lane ahead of her.
Then she spotted something even funnier.
In the car next to the mail truck, a dog had its head hanging out of an open back window and appeared to be giving the postal worker an absolute earful.
The pup barked repeatedly in the direction of the USPS van, clearly very invested in whatever disagreement was happening from the back seat.
There was no fence to defend, no front porch to patrol and no mail being delivered.
Apparently, simply seeing the mail truck was enough.
Liv captured the hilarious moment and joked that she had witnessed an “honorable battle” on her way home.

The best part may be how seriously the dog seemed to take the entire encounter.
From the pup’s perspective, this was apparently important business.
Dogs often bark at mail carriers because they repeatedly approach their homes and then leave, which can accidentally reinforce territorial behavior. To a dog, barking may seem like it successfully made the “intruder” go away.
That explanation makes sense at home.
At a stoplight, though, this particular pup may have just recognized an old rival.
Unfortunately, the video did not appear to capture the mail carrier’s reaction.
Considering how often postal workers encounter barking dogs, there is a good chance this driver had seen something similar before.
Still, watching one determined dog continue the legendary dog-versus-mail-carrier feud from the back seat of a car makes the moment especially funny.
