An elderly orange cat who was abandoned and left to suffer alone is stealing hearts across the internet with her incredible spirit and an endless supply of affection.

Meet Alani, a sweet senior kitty who has every reason to be afraid of people after everything she’s been through. But instead of hiding from the world, this lovable little survivor seems determined to make friends with everyone she meets.

Alani, believed to be between 10 and 12 years old, was discovered abandoned inside a cat carrier in heartbreaking condition. She was severely underweight, dangerously cold, and covered in fleas. Her blood sugar was also dangerously low.

Even more upsetting, the carrier was soiled with urine and feces, suggesting the helpless cat had been trapped inside for some time.

Nobody knows how long Alani had been alone or who left her behind.

Fortunately, the frightened and fragile kitty eventually made her way into the caring hands of NAWS Humane Society in Mokena, Illinois, where she was given the medical attention and kindness she desperately needed.

And despite her terrible ordeal, Alani had a surprise waiting for her rescuers.

She couldn’t stop talking!

Fran, an animal rescue advocate who shares videos on TikTok under the username @franflight, began documenting Alani’s recovery. Almost immediately, the affectionate orange kitty started winning people over with her adorable meows and eagerness for attention.

By just her second day in Fran’s care, Alani was already behaving like a little social butterfly.

Rather than retreating into a corner, the senior cat appeared eager to interact with her new friend, greeting attention with enthusiastic chatter and soaking up every gentle touch.

It was a remarkable display of trust from a cat who had recently been through such a frightening experience.

The touching videos quickly captured viewers’ hearts, with many struggling to understand how someone could abandon such a loving animal.

Alani is doing SO WELL here with us in her second day. I’m so beyond thankful that she made it through the night and still had a roaring appetite. 🥹 Alani has completely stolen all of our hearts, and although we are still waiting for her bloodwork to come back, we really would love to try to find a home for this sweet senior girl so that we can try to get her out of the shelter as quickly as possible. If you are looking for a senior cat, who LOVES to chat… one who will most likely have some underlying health condition (obviously we will know more tomorrow), please feel free to message me. Alani deserved to be completely spoiled in the last leg of her life, and I’m confident we all can do that for her. I love you guys so much and I hope you enjoy this happy update. 🥹🤍🫂 #cat #catsoftiktok #adoptdontshop #kitten #kittensoftiktok

“Omg that poor baby. I’ll never understand how people can be so mean to animals,” one TikTok user commented.

Others were simply amazed by Alani’s sweet personality and willingness to trust people despite her difficult circumstances.

And things only got cuter from there.

By her third day with Fran, Alani was already showing signs of improvement and even sporting an adorable little sweater to help keep her comfortable.

The tiny senior kitty looked precious in her cozy outfit, and her affectionate personality continued to shine through.

For a cat who had been found cold, hungry, and alone, having warm clothing, regular meals, and people who genuinely cared about her was a tremendous change.

There was also encouraging news about her health.

According to an update shared about her recovery, Alani’s bloodwork came back with reassuring results. However, she remained malnourished and weak, meaning she still needed close monitoring and time to regain her strength.

Her long-term prognosis has not been confirmed, and rescuers initially feared she might need hospice care because of her fragile condition.

Still, her improving comfort and playful personality have given those following her story something wonderful to celebrate.

Senior cats like Alani can face additional challenges when they enter shelters. Older animals sometimes require more medical attention, special diets, or additional patience while adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings.

They can also be overlooked by potential adopters who are drawn to younger kittens.

But older cats have something special to offer. Many are already accustomed to human companionship, have established personalities, and are perfectly happy spending their days cuddling, relaxing, and enjoying a peaceful home.

Alani certainly seems ready to make up for lost cuddle time.

While she continues recovering, the team at NAWS is making sure she receives the attention and care she needs. Her eventual adoption prospects will depend on her health and veterinary recommendations.

The most touching part of Alani’s story isn’t simply that she survived being abandoned. It’s that, after everything she endured, she still seems to believe people are worth loving.

Every little meow and affectionate interaction is another reminder of just how much love senior rescue animals have left to give.

Alani may not have found her forever family yet, but one thing is certain: This sweet orange girl no longer has to face the world alone.

And judging by how much she loves chatting with her rescuers, whoever eventually welcomes her home could be getting the most adorable little conversationalist imaginable.
