Some cats meow when they want something, but Merv the Siamese cat prefers to have an entire conversation. And when her favorite toy fish goes missing, she has plenty to say about it!
The internet-famous kitty has won over animal lovers with her incredibly humanlike vocalizations, which often sound as though she’s speaking actual words. Her latest video shows her having a hilarious disagreement with her dad, Chad, who is simply trying to help her find her missing toy.
Unfortunately for Chad, Merv doesn’t seem particularly interested in his assistance. She wants her fish, and she wants it now!
As Chad searches for the missing toy, he talks to Merv and encourages her to look more carefully. Rather than quietly waiting for him to find it, the sassy Siamese responds with a series of dramatic meows that sound remarkably like she’s arguing right back.
At one point, Chad tells her to look deeper, and Merv lets out a response that sounds suspiciously like, “I am!” Her perfectly timed replies make the whole exchange feel less like a conversation with a pet and more like a funny disagreement between two family members.
Of course, Merv has no idea how entertaining she’s being. As far as she’s concerned, there’s a very important fish missing, and her dad needs to take the situation seriously.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of the chatty cat’s attitude, with more than a thousand comments pouring in from people amazed by her unusual voice.
“How did you teach her to speak English? LOL!” one viewer asked, earning more than 12,000 likes.
Another person had the perfect response: “Merv taught them, what do you mean?”
Someone else laughed at the back-and-forth, writing, “‘Look deeper’ ‘I AM!!!’ LOL! So much sass!”
Other fans were equally impressed by how clearly Merv seemed to imitate her dad. One commenter even joked that the little cat sounded like she had an Australian accent.

Siamese cats are famously vocal, often using a wide range of meows and other sounds to communicate with their owners. But Merv seems to have taken that reputation to a whole new level, turning an ordinary search for a toy into an unforgettable conversation.
Whether she’s actually imitating certain words or just has excellent comedic timing, there’s no denying that this clever kitty knows how to make herself heard.
