An adorable Bernese Mountain Dog puppy is learning that making friends with the family cats might be harder than expected, especially when those cats happen to be two very unimpressed Maine Coons.

In a hilarious Instagram video shared by @snowtailmainecoonwhiskers, the fluffy little puppy is having the time of his life, bouncing around the living room with a stuffed toy. His tail is wagging, his energy is endless, and he seems completely convinced that life couldn’t possibly get any better.

Unfortunately, his new feline siblings appear to have a very different opinion.

When the camera pans across the room, two majestic gray Maine Coon cats are sitting perfectly still, watching the puppy’s every move with expressions that can only be described as pure judgment.

One cat is perched like royalty on the fireplace hearth, its enormous fluffy tail hanging gracefully over the edge. The other sits nearby, looking equally unimpressed. Neither makes the slightest effort to join the fun.

If looks could talk, these two would probably be demanding an immediate family meeting about the unauthorized addition to the household.

Meanwhile, the puppy remains blissfully unaware of the silent disapproval. He continues bouncing around with his toy before happily trotting toward the camera, apparently assuming everyone is just as excited about his arrival as he is.

Viewers couldn’t stop laughing at the dramatic difference between the puppy’s enthusiasm and the cats’ icy reception.

“These two cats are plotting that dog’s demise,” one person joked.

Another imagined the cats thinking, “We can end this thing in the next 30 seconds.”

Others suggested the humans had made a serious mistake by bringing home a new family member without first consulting the household’s true decision-makers.

Of course, the cats may eventually warm up to their bouncy new brother. But for now, this little Bernese Mountain Dog has a lot of work ahead of him if he wants to win over the furry rulers of the house.

And judging by those faces, his probationary period has only just begun!
