Potty training a new puppy can be exhausting, but one adorable Golden Retriever named Butterscotch has found a hilarious way to make the process even harder. Instead of doing her business during a late-night bathroom break, this sleepy little fluffball decided the grass looked like the perfect place for a nap.

In an adorable video shared just days after Butterscotch joined her new family, her patient parents are trying to teach her that nighttime potty breaks are for one thing and one thing only. Unfortunately, their tiny Golden Retriever has an entirely different agenda.

The moment Dad places Butterscotch on the grass, she practically melts into the ground. Her little legs give way, her fluffy body settles into the lawn, and she looks completely uninterested in moving another inch.

Apparently, standing up is simply too much work for a puppy who’s had such a busy day of eating, playing and being ridiculously cute!

Dad tries to encourage her to get moving, but Butterscotch seems perfectly content with her new outdoor mattress. Who needs a cozy dog bed when there’s a perfectly good patch of grass right outside?

Viewers couldn’t get enough of her dramatic refusal to cooperate.

“I think your potato is tired,” one commenter joked, perfectly describing the little golden fluffball sprawled across the lawn.

Another viewer offered a hilariously accurate prediction about what might happen next: “She will pee as soon as you go inside. Don’t worry.”

Anyone who’s ever raised a puppy knows that feeling all too well!

Of course, Butterscotch is still getting used to her new surroundings, and learning where to go potty takes a little time. Fortunately, her parents seem more than willing to give their sleepy girl the patience and encouragement she needs.

For now, Butterscotch has mastered one very important puppy skill: getting absolutely everyone to fall in love with her while doing absolutely nothing.

She may not have figured out potty training just yet, but when it comes to being adorable, this little Golden Retriever is already an expert!
