Animals, like humans, feel all sorts of emotions, such as love and grief, especially regarding their offspring.

The Jaguar Rescue Center captured such a moment in their video, posted on October 13, of a baby sloth the staff reunited with its mom, and it’s so heartfelt to watch!

@jaguarrescuecenter We are so excited to announce that we were able to reunite this mother and baby 3-fingered sloths (Bradypus variegatus).🦥 On October 10, we received a call from Manzanillo National Park letting us know that they found a baby crying on the floor. We went to his rescue and brought him for a check-up with the vet. Fortunately, he was healthy and didn't have any injuries. The next day, our team went back to the park with the baby and played his cry on a speaker near the place where he was found. After a while, we spotted a sloth reacting to the sound a few meters away. It took around an hour to make the mom come down, but, finally, she did it. It fills our hearts with love every time we reunite a mom and her baby. #sloth #babysloth #momsloth #slothoftiktok #sloths #3finguersloth #foryou #parati #viral #cutesloth #jaguarrescuecenter #wildlife #costarica ♬ Here Comes the Sun – Relaxing Instrumental Music

Aw, this poor little guy fell out of the tree.

Wildlife rescues and rehabilitation centers play a crucial role in rescuing and rehabilitating sloths, as well as other wildlife, with the ultimate goal of releasing them back into their natural habitats and, if possible, reuniting them with their mothers.

When a baby sloth is found orphaned or in a precarious situation, concerned individuals or wildlife rescue organizations may intervene to rescue the young sloth and then take the sloth in to be evaluated by a vet for any injuries, illnesses, or malnourishment.

That’s what the team of this wildlife rescue organization did with this baby sloth, according to their video caption.

On October 10, we received a call from Manzanillo National Park letting us know that they found a baby crying on the floor. We went to his rescue and brought him for a check-up with the vet.

“Fortunately, he was healthy and didn’t have any injuries. The next day, our team went back to the park with the baby and played his cry on a speaker near the place where he was found. After a while, we spotted a sloth reacting to the sound a few meters away. It took around an hour to make the mom come down, but, finally, she did it,” they wrote.

In the wild, sloth mothers and their babies share a strong bond, and mother sloths are typically very protective of their young.

Reuniting them in captivity may be challenging and not always possible, but luckily this mom took her lost baby back!
