Although there are plenty of people who are—tragically-quick to ditch their dogs when the pitter patter of little feet across their floor become the toddler variety, those who commit to their furry friends will find that the bond that grows between their little pet and their little human is far more rewarding than they could have imagined. Take this little girl and her great, big Doberman.
“I raised my Doberman puppy around my daughter,” reads the caption on this sweet video, which shows the two youngsters growing up side by side. The dog, named Diesel, absolutely adores being around his human sister. He waits for her outside stores or on the other side of fences, cuddles with her at night and on couches, and always strives to be close to her. It’s a beautiful relationship for which there is no substitute.

And this family isn’t alone, either. Dobermans are prized for their loyalty and affection, and it’s clear that many have had a similar experience.
“My dad got a Doberman on my second birthday,” writes one person in the comments. “She grew up just like this I’m an only child and it was the best experience ever. She was like my sister.”
