Golden Retrievers may have a reputation as the ultimate family dogs, but that doesn’t mean they’re always perfectly behaved.
They’re affectionate, loyal and eager to please, but they’re also playful, energetic and sometimes a little too curious for their own good.
Two Golden Retriever brothers recently proved exactly that after getting into trouble while their mom, @kayla_michelle62, was away from home.
On Sept. 6, the dogs apparently went on a wild zoomie session through the house, making a mess and rolling up part of the carpet in the process.
But what happened next had viewers laughing.
The two Goldens seemed to have very different ideas about what to do before their mom returned. One appeared ready to deal with the mess, while the other seemed far less concerned.
Their completely opposite personalities made the moment feel like something straight out of a sitcom.
Even without saying a word, the brothers seemed to be having an entire conversation with each other.

Viewers quickly became obsessed with the dogs’ expressions and their mom’s hilarious interpretation of what they were probably thinking.
“Where can I get a dog translator? I am convinced thats exactly what they said,” one commenter wrote.
While the dogs clearly know each other well, their mom may know them even better.
Eventually, the pair appeared to give up on fixing the carpet before she came home.
Luckily for them, their mom wasn’t upset.
She said putting the carpet back in place only took about 30 seconds, while the hilarious memory will probably last much longer.
Several viewers also noticed another funny detail about the two dogs.
Some Golden Retriever owners said the darker red-colored Golden always seems to be the troublemaker.
“It’s always the toasty one,” one person joked.
Another viewer wrote, “I have these exact dogs and my red one is also the problem child.”
Still, experts say a Golden Retriever’s coat color does not actually determine its personality.
While dog owners may notice funny patterns among their own pets, coat color and behavior are influenced by different genetic factors.
So the red Golden may look guilty in this case, but his fur color probably has nothing to do with it.
