In most cases, cats and water mix about as well as, well, oil and water, which is to say, they don’t mix at all. While plenty of dogs will gladly splash and play in the water to their hearts’ content, most cats will freak out at the mere suggestion of a bath, and heaven help you if you’re ever forced to give a cat a bath for hygienic reasons without protective gear.
Make no mistake, Peaches the Orange Cat is not an exception to this rule. While perhaps not quite as bath-averse as some cats, Peaches still prefers to keep her fur nice and dry, thank you very much. However, Peaches does love hanging out with her mom while she’s in the bath, so together, Peaches and Mom developed the perfect bath-time ritual to give this sweet cat the best of both worlds:

When life gives you bubble baths, make a kitty-sized boat! By taking a trip out on the S.S. Tupperware, Peaches can comfortably join her mom during bath time without risking her beautiful orange coat getting soggy. Peaches and Mama have been engaging in this unique bath time ritual ever since Peaches was a tiny kitten, and the only thing that’s changed over time is the size and composition of Peaches’ boats to accommodate the ever-growing orange cat.
Not all of Peaches’ bath time boats have been winners (that cling-film boat was a Titanic-level disaster from the start), but despite occasionally capsizing, Peaches never lost her sea legs, and now that she’s back to sailing in a plain old plastic container vessel, she’s happier than ever. Even while she’s completely surrounded by water, Peaches is so warm and cozy in her bathtub boat that she often ends up drifting off to sleep.
“The heat from the water and weightlessness would feel amazing for cats,” mused TikTok user @darkysabertooth.
“Oh, to be a cat sitting in a makeshift boat without a care in the world,” @sariforpartyrockinggh said wistfully. We should all be so lucky…
